Feast of the Ascension

St Mark 16:
"14 At length he appeared to the eleven as they were at table: and he upbraided them with their incredulity and hardness of heart, because they did not believe them who had seen him after he was risen again.
15 And he said to them: Go into the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believes and is baptized shall be saved: but he that believes not shall he condemned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name they shall cast out devils. They shall speak with new tongues.
18 They shall take up serpents: and if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them. They shall lay their hand upon the sick: and they shall recover."

And because I can't get to Mass tonight - (Latin Mass) - I thought I would attend a local parish instead; but not ONE!!! - observes the Ascension.I've spent three days looking.
Not even a mention of Ascension Thursday in any of the online newsletters - do you think they are casting it into the same pit as St Christopher?
According to my brother who lives there, it is a Public Holiday still, in France - and we have done away with it.

Yes, alas one of the many 'celebrated on Sunday only' feasts of Australia!

Pretty sad stuff...

Imagine moving Anzac Day to the nearest weekend........
the whole concept beggars belief.
