Join in Adoration in union with Pope Francis: at 1am on June 2!

Fr Z recently highlighted an upcoming event around which there has been remarkably little publicity to date, namely a proposal that on the Sunday of Corpus Christi (ie the OF Solemnity; EF Sunday after Corpus Christi), cathedrals and parishes around the world engage in Eucharistic Adoration at the same time as Pope Francis leads Adoration in Rome.

I searched in vain for mention of this on the main Vatican site, or the ACBC site, but some details can be found, albeit somewhat buried, on the website of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization.

The website says:

On the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Holy Father will preside over a special Eucharistic adoration that will extend at the same time all over the world involving the cathedrals and parishes in each diocese. For an hour, at 5pm (Rome time), the whole world will be united in prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Australian enthusiasm for this event may be somewhat limited due to the timezone problem: 5pm Rome time is 1am Australian Eastern Standard (11pm Perth time), though the US Bishops are apparently suggesting that one could engage with the 'spirit' of the event while holding the actual Adoration at a more convenient time on the Sunday.  Fair enough.

Still, as Fr Z has suggested, an alternative would be to make it part of a forty hours devotion.
