It has been drawn to my attention by a reader that today is the feast of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, foundress of the Missionaries of Charity.
It is not a universal feast (as yet), but still one worth remembering!
Mother Teresa's order is surely one of the greatest success stories of the modern era - distinctively garbed, committed to both the spiritual and physical needs of the poor, faithful and genuinely ascetic!
And of course as a saint she appeals particularly to me for her toughness and outspokenness at times when it was necessary!
Her life, and particularly perseverance in the face of enormous spiritual and other challenges, should surely be an inspiration for us all. You can read more about her here.
