Last flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery...

It is a sad day today, with the landing of space shuttle Discovery after the last ever mission of that shuttle.

The astronauts for the mission were Mission Specialists Nicole Stott and Michael Barratt, Pilot Eric Boe, Commander Steve Lindsey and Mission Specialists Alvin Drew and Steve Bowen.

Discovery has been in operation for 27 years, and flew 39 missions.

The program as a whole is winding down, with only two missions left to go, one each for Endeavour and Atlantis.

Made redundant, no doubt, by the discovery of the Stargate and that secret fleet of starships Eath has managed to construct with the help of a few alien allies...

Let's just hope that the Wraith aren't really lurking out there, looking for their new feeding ground...
