Holy Week Office Part III: Good Friday

Tenebrae for Good Friday - The Office for Good Friday starts, as for the other two days of the Triduum, with Tenebrae of the day, and my comments from yesterday on this apply again here - Matins and Lauds on this day are not really separable, so if you can, try and say them both! But if you are just doing Lauds, the rubrics , antiphons and page numbers for the psalms etc for it are on page 309* of the Farnborough Monastic Diurnal.

Minor hours - The psalms and so forth for the minor hours are exactly the same as for Maundy Thursday (and Holy Saturday), save for the additional phrase added to the Christus Factus Est added each day. You can listen to the whole thing here, and learn to sing it if you like!:

No Vespers - Assuming you attend the afternoon ceremonies (Mass of the Pre-sanctified), vespers is not said in the 1962 Office (see MD 317* if you are saying it).

Compline - Follows the same form as on Maundy Thursday, MD 305*.
