Dissenting bishop named 'Canberra citizen of the year'

Auxiliary bishop of Canberra-Goulburn, Patrick Power, has been named citizen of the year by the ACT Government.

Bishop Power has consistently supported liberal positions - he has come out in support of St Mary's Brisbane's antics, Bishop Geoffrey Robinson's erroneous book on the Church, and women's ordination amongst many other causes (acatholica helpfully provides the records of his most recent efforts).

So I guess we shouldn't be surprised that a very secularist Government indeed, should want to honour his advocacy efforts....
