Feast of Corpus Christi - Solemn Profession of Margaret McHugh

On the Feast of Corpus Christi, please pray for Sr Frances Teresa a Jesu Hostia (Margaret McHugh, fermerly of Canberra) who makes her Solemn Profession today.

The mass will be celebrated according to the Extraordinary Form by Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz at the traditional Carmel of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in Valparaiso, Nebraska.

The sisters started out in a farmhouse, but moved into their current monastery in 2000. You can follow the story of the monastery's construction here:

It was finally completed and dedicated in 2002.

The monastery, the only Carmelite women's monastery with the TLM and following the original Teresian constitutions currently recognised by Rome, has 26 sisters, and continues to attract vocations. You can read about the entry of one young sister here:

Teresa of Avila would have expected a convent with 26 sisters to establish another convent. Rather large for authentic Carmelites.

I understand that they do have plans for a new foundation.

But bear in mind that they have had (and still do) a fairly high proportion of sisters in formation, some of whom will inevitably drop out.
